Dryland Clinics @ Virginia Tech

In competitive diving, the most critical work happens before you ever hit the water. New River Diving’s Dryland Clinics are designed to provide athletes with the high-repetition training and technical precision necessary for a successful season.

By utilizing trampolines, spotting belts, foam pits, and specialized dryland boards, we create a controlled environment where divers can master complex mechanics with immediate feedback. Whether you are a beginner building core body awareness or an elite diver refining a high-degree-of-difficulty list, these clinics offer the supplemental training required to excel.

Why Dryland Training?

  • Accelerated Learning: Achieve more repetitions from dry board to crash mat compared to getting in and out of the pool.

  • Aerial Awareness: Develop a "spatial feel" using a belt harness, allowing for better spotting and more consistent entries.

  • Safety & Skill Progression: Use crash mats to safely break down the mechanics of somersaults, twists, and reverses.

  • Technical Precision: Focus on specific muscle memory and body alignment without the physical impact of repeated water entries
